The dithering is over, former Vice President Joe Biden has officially announced that he is running for president in 2020 and expeditiously took the fight to President Donald Trump for palling around with White Supremacy after the horrible events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Biden made the announcement via Twitter with a video where he said it is time for Americans to ask themselves a few questions about the state of the union.
Former President Barack Obama’s good friend said: “The core values of this nation, our standing in the world, our very democracy, everything that has made America — America — is at stake. That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”
Biden went on to talk about the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville that took place in 2017 where Trump left the world in shock after he said there were “very fine people” attending the rally and protesting it.
The Democrat revealed: “We are in the battle for the soul of this nation. I believe history will look back on four years of this president and all he embraces as an aberrant moment in time. But if we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation … and I cannot stand by and watch that happen.”
Katie Hill, a spokeswoman for Obama, responded to the news by saying: “President Obama has long said that selecting Joe Biden as his running mate in 2008 was one of the best decisions he ever made. He relied on the Vice President’s knowledge, insight, and judgment throughout both campaigns and the entire presidency.”
Trump took to Twitter to blast Biden: “Welcome to the race Sleepy Joe. I only hope you have the intelligence, long in doubt, to wage a successful primary campaign. It will be nasty – you will be dealing with people who truly have some very sick & demented ideas. But if you make it, I will see you at the Starting Gate!”
He added: “I believe it will be Crazy Bernie Sanders vs. Sleepy Joe Biden as the two finalists to run against maybe the best Economy in the history of our Country (and MANY other great things)! I look forward to facing whoever it may be. May God Rest Their Soul!”
Biden, who is leading in the pools for the Democratic nomination, is rumored to be thinking about Stacey Abrams or Oprah Winfrey as his running mate.
