Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines must believe her time is more precious now that she is expecting her fifth child, and she is willing to make you pay for it. The 39-year-old has demanded $150,000 an hour if lawyers in a furniture lawsuit want to depose her. She claims that the request is burdensome and unnecessary and her demand for that rate is fair because she has received offers for that amount in the past.
According to Radar Online, Standard Manufacturing Company and LF Products are at legal odds because of a disagreement over the quality of raw material used in furniture intended to be part of Gaines’ Magnolia Home line, and now they are attempting to drag Gaines into their battle.
The reality TV star allegedly discovered the different type of material used for the furniture than what they agreed upon, and now LF Products wants her for a deposition. Since she is neither the plaintiff nor the defendant in the case, her attorney told the LF Products’ lawyers that if they want to depose her or have her look for requested documents, they would have to pay $150,000 an hour.
She did agree to answer questions via a written deposition. But, that wasn’t good enough for LF Products, and they are now asking the judge to order her to sit for a deposition. There is yet to be a ruling on the request.
Gaines’ husband, Chip, recently announced on social media that his wife is pregnant with baby number five.
“We are officially pregnant. And I could not be more EXCITED! #5 #7ThePerfectNumber,” wrote the happy dad.
It was a good moment for the couple after a year of controversy that included them facing their own legal troubles and quitting their popular HGTV show.
After they announced that Fixer Upper was coming to an end, the couple went on the Today Show and explained their reason for leaving, which was to spend more time with their kids. But, many believe they did it because their marriage is in trouble.
Per Fox News, the backlash quickly came after the baby announcement, with many of their social media followers criticizing the pregnancy as a ploy to save their rumored troubled marriage. One person wrote that a kid that results from “we’re back together sex” never fixes a marriage. Another replied to the pregnancy news by writing that overpopulation is killing the planet and having another baby is irresponsible.
Five kids do make a big family, but her sister has even more. WSOC-TV reports that Gaines posted a message of congratulations this past week on Instagram to her sister, Mary Kay, for having baby number six.
The fifth and final season of Fixer Upper is currently airing on HGTV.
