Jim Carrey Talks Leaving Hollywood And What Convinced Him To Come Back!

The actor is back on screen, but his return did not happen easily. During a brand new interview with Hollywood Reporter, Jim Carrey talked about our controversial president, social media, as well as the reason he nearly left Hollywood for good.
As you may be aware, the legendary actor has been out of the spotlight in recent years.
Now, he explains that ‘I just did not want to be in the business anymore. I did not like what was happening, the corporations taking over and all of that. And maybe it is because I felt pulled towards a different type of creative outlet and I liked the control of painting — of not having a committee telling me what the idea must be in order to appeal to a four-quadrant whatever.’
But then, what convinced Carrey to come back?
Apparently, it was an old collaborator of his in combination with a really special part that ultimately got him to want to be on camera once again.
‘Projects find you when you’re ready to express them. That’s what I find. The ones that you’re drawn to are the ones that, for some reason, you’ve just experienced something very similar or something in your past is lit up by this,’ the actor told the outlet.
That being said, Jim Carrey has been working on a brand new comedy-drama series titled Kidding that is set to premiere on September 9 on Showtime.
Jim Carrey is Jeff Pickles, a much-loved kids’ TV show host whose personal life is in ruins and is trying to keep his career untouched by the drama.

Carrey worked on the series with Michel Gondry, the director of the iconic 2004 movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
