Jill Duggar has been a reality TV star since she was a kid, so she is used to sharing pretty much everything about her life with her family’s giant fan base. But, it turns out there a few things that the 26-year-old does want to keep private. Is it possible her youngest son, Samuel, went through a medical crisis?
The Hollywood Gossip reports that when Duggar gave birth to her second son back in July, she waited weeks before posting a pic. Fans didn’t know why it took so long for a photo until this past week, when her husband, Derick Dillard, posted a photo montage on Instagram celebrating his mom’s birthday.
In one of the montage photos, Dillard’s mom is in the hospital standing next to baby Samuel, who is hooked up to tubes with wires coming out of his nose. The never-before-seen pic instantly concerned many of the 28-year-old’s followers.
But others insisted that such scenes are not uncommon with newborns, even though it may appear unsettling.
“That is a tube to suction fluid out of the lungs,” commented one fan. “When babies are born by C-section the fluid does not get pushed out by contractions. It is normal to have to get this out, not a complication. Happened with both my C-section babies.”
But others were sure the photo meant that Samuel had more problems at birth than his parents claimed. They did reveal that doctors performed a C-section after Duggar was in labor for 40 hours. The difficult and complicated labor forced her to give birth in a hospital instead of at home. The mom of two is a midwife and has participated in numerous home births, and her family is known to prefer natural birth at home instead of a hospital.
Duggar told People Magazine that Samuel’s birth didn’t go as planned, but she didn’t reveal if he had any health problems.
The Dillards have been through a lot since the birth of baby number two. TLC fired Derick from Counting On after his homophobic Twitter rants against fellow reality star, transgender teen Jazz Jennings.
Then, according to Mommyish, the couple moved out of the mansion-like house her parents gave them when they got married and downsized to a much smaller home because – as Derick explains it – the rent was cheaper.
That is understandable since their income has changed due to no more TV appearances. What doesn’t make much sense is that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar gave their daughter and son-in-law that home, so why were they paying rent?
Rumors have swirled that the Dillards have pulled away from the Duggar family after Derick’s termination from the show, so maybe there is more to this move than he claims.
Fans will just have to tune in to the new season of Counting On next month to find out. Of course, it will be from the Duggar perspective, because Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar are off the show.
