The #MeToo movement shook the world in the last six months after the Harvey Weinstein case blew open in the mainstream media. One person to stay relatively silent on the topic – in comparison to others, at least – is Jennifer Lopez. However, in a chat with reporters, she spoke about inappropriate situations in her own life as well.
The 48-year-old singer, when speaking with the publication Harper’s Bazaar, admitted that she hadn’t suffered abuse in the way that other women have.
But she did experience a creepy moment a long time ago where a director asked her to lift her shirt to see her breasts. Fortunately, Lopez dared to say no.
J-Lo stated that despite the pressure to do so, she knew it was wrong. The actress explained that her upbringing in the Bronx, New York, influenced her perspective on the matter.
Lopez said there was no way that she would deal with such impropriety. She explained that in her mind, the request was downright wrong, and the “Bronx” in her was like, “Nah, we’re not having it.”
In the last few years, Lopez has made a name for herself for philanthropy as well as her illustrious performing career. Following Hurricane Maria which struck Puerto Rico back in December, J-Lo donated $1 million to help with victims of the natural catastrophe.
Like many other celebrities, J-Lo has used her voice for the betterment of those less fortunate. Following the announcement of the Time’s Up initiative, Jennifer expressed her support for the movement and claimed she will always stand up for her other sisters.
As you may know, during the Golden Globes this year, many stars, and not just women, wore black to protest sexual impropriety and harassment in Hollywood. The wave of misconduct allegations against men in top-ranking positions led to the movement.
