Jennifer Lawrence And Jodie Foster To Host 2018 Oscars For Best Actress Presentation

According to multiple reports, J-Law and Jodie Foster will be announcing the award for Best Actress at this year’s Oscar’s instead of last year’s Best Actor winner, Casey Affleck. Affleck found himself embroiled in a sexual misconduct scandal in recent years leading to his fall-out from the industry.
It’s a tradition at the ceremony for the previous year’s winner to announce the award for Best Actress and Actor but Affleck willingly decided to withdraw from the position due to the allegations against him.
Affleck won the title for his performance in the 2017 film, Manchester By The Sea. Variety was the first to report that Lawrence and Foster would be presenting the award instead.
For more background, Casey is currently facing two lawsuits following the accusers who claimed he harassed them while they worked on his film, 2010’s I’m Still Here, starring Joaquim Phoenix.
In a report from Time Magazine, one of the women claims Affleck jumped into bed with her while she was asleep and aggressively grabbed her arm.
Affleck denied the charges and said they were merely an attempt at extortion. The 42-year-old said to The Boston Globe back in February of 2017 that mistreating people for any reason was “abhorrent.”
The actor went on to say there was nothing he could do about it but continue living life by his values. As it was previously reported, Affleck is just one of many men to face accusations of this type.
Perhaps, the most scandalous were those against Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of impropriety on a varying level from harassment, assault, to rape, by over one hundred women.
Some of the key figures to accuse the former acclaimed producer include Angelina Jolie and Rose McGowan. The misconduct claims resulted in the #MeToo movement and the Time’s Up initiative.
