Jeffrey Tambor Hasn't Actually Left 'Transparent'
A new report by the New York Times sheds light on award-winning actor Jeffrey Tambor's current role on the hit Amazon series Transparent . despite previous reports saying Tambor was off the show due to sexual misconduct allegations, the New York Times has reported that isn't the case. Jeffrey Tambor is still technically on the series and issues regarding the allegations are currently being investigated. Previous reports indicated that Tambor was quitting the program. The report clarifies that is not the case, though where the show will go from here is still speculative.
Taffy Brodesser-Aner and Vivian Yee wrote the piece. You may read comments from both writers in the links below. The article explained the misconception regarding Jeffrey Tambor's current role on Transparen t as follows.
"As Amazon investigates the complaints, the series is suspended in an agonizing limbo. For instance, Mr. Tambor was widely believed to be leaving “Transparent” after he issued a statement saying, “I don’t see how I can return.” Yet a representative for the actor disclosed to The Times recently that, in fact, Mr. Tambor had no plans to quit."
The piece described the current production status of Transparent as being in "agonizing limbo."
In addition to Jeffrey Tambor's groundbreaking role as Maura Pfefferman, a middle-aged professor who comes to terms with the fact he is transgender, even though he's married and the father of four children, decides to stop being Maury and become Maura.
The show broke ground by exploring the character as well as the way Marua's transition impacted her ex-wife and children.
Allegations that Jeffrey Tambor was behaving inappropriately with cast members came as a shock and crushing blow to the positive impact the series has had on society.
Because Amazon releases their full seasons at once, Transparent Season 4 was released on September 22, 2017, months before the allegations surfaced.
Season 5 is scheduled for release in 2018, but at this point, no one knows what will happen. Not only do they have to deal with the allegations, but Amazon Studios has to review the legalities of the contracts with each of the actors.
What do you think should happen? Do you think Jeffrey Tambor should quit or be written off the show?
