Javier Bardem In Talks To Play Ariel's Dad In The Little Mermaid's Live-Action Remake!
According to some brand new reports, actor Javier Bardem is in talks to join the world of Disney by becoming a character in the highly anticipated The Little Mermaid live-action remake! But who would the experienced Hollywood star play?
As it turns out, he is a top choice for the role of King Triton, the dad of the main character, Ariel, who will be portrayed by Halle Bailey.
Of course, at this time, while Halle is officially part of the cast, the same thing cannot be said about Bardem and more will be announced later on.
This comes only a day after news about another possible cast member – Harry Styles!
Reports claim that the former One Direction member is in early talks for the role of Prince Eric, Ariel’s romantic interest!
As for King Triton, earlier this month, none other than Terry Crews expressed interest in the role.
The star pretty much started an online campaign to get the character and even photoshopped himself with a merman tail and holding a trident.
In the background, Atlantica could be seen, the animated film’s kingdom.
Terry also started a couple of hashtags to gather support – ‘#ArielsGotTerry’ and ‘#AmericasGotTerry.’
At this time, only the actor for Ariel has been confirmed and the news of Bailey playing her has been met with both positive and negative responses.
About her casting, director Rob Marshall stated that ‘After an extensive search, it was very clear that Halle possessed a rare combination of spirit, youth, innocence, heart and substance — plus a glorious voice - all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.’
