Jared Leto loves Gucci and if you follow him or his fashion trends, you’ll find that he wears the designer brand frequently. But it wasn’t his Gucci, crystal-adorned, red satin tunic that drew attention at the 2019 Met Gala but the replica of his head that he carried that got people talking.
Gucci was behind the head and discussed its meaning, as well as Jared’s attire. According to a post on Gucci’s official Instagram, Makinarium SFX&VFX created the replica that included Jared’s piercing blue eyes and long, dark tresses. It reportedly took six months to craft it to perfection and in Jared’s likeness.

The Met Gala 2019 theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion” and not everyone agreed that Jared Leto’s look was “Camp” enough. Some took issue with Gucci’s tunic while others just responded that the outfit was too weird and creepy to truly be camp.
While some of the public may have had issues with Jared Leto’s head, it was a big hit at the gala. Photos of celebrities who attended the fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute flooded social media and guests from Kendall Jenner to co-host Shawn Mendes were seen posing and interacting with the head.
In addition to the Instagram posts, video footage captured of Jared Leto descending upon the Met Gala’s pink carpet with his head in hand has gone viral. At one moment, Jared froze on the carpet and gazed eerily into the head’s eyes.
Photographers and onlookers shouted for Jared to turn their way. He and the head complied.
