Former host of the HLN eponymous titled show Jane Velez-Mitchell and avid animal rights supporter, Jane Velez-Mitchell live-streamed on September 15, 2018, from the Mercy For Animals Hidden Heroes Gala. The celebrity-studded gala was attended by stars such as Moby, Kat von D, Alan Cumming, Alicia Silverstone, Edie Falco, Alec Baldwin, Emily Deschanel, and Alexandra Paul. The official website shows a full celebrity lineup of presenters as well as Mercy For Animals supporters and sponsors.
The MFA Hidden Heroes Gala was held at the Vibiania in L.A. and attendees enjoyed a four-star, vegan meal at the black-tie event. Those who arrived walked the star-studded black carpet where they posed for media photos.
Mercy For Animals is known for their daring, undercover reporting that includes exposing animal abuses conducted by the agricultural industry. Though Mercy For Animals supporters are predominantly vegans, the organization founded by Nathan Runkle in 1999 believes exposing the greater abuses to farmed animals and prosecuting abusers is the most proactive way to institute permanent change.
Mercy For Animals advocates that the best way for people to treat animals compassionately and humanely is by exposing the conditions, and abuses, they are exposed to while alive.

Nathan “Milo” Runkle kicked off the event with a heartwrenching speech where he reiterated Mercy For Animal’s purpose and mission.
After Milo spoke, he turned the platform to Mercy For Animals newest president. The crowd offered thunderous applause to both as they celebrated the heroes who sacrifice their time and energy in order to make the world a safer place for animals. Many of them keep their identities hidden for fear of their own personal safety.
The audience also got to hear indirectly from one of Mercy For Animals’ undercover investigators. The undercover investigator kept his identity a secret while wearing a hat, glasses, gloves and a scarf over his mouth. Though he did not speak to the crowd directly, he received a standing ovation.
Maggie Q also presented an award to Alicia Silverstone. You may see her speak in the video player above and many celebrities who honored Alicia Silverstone via video.
