The mother of two argues that it’s actually vital to include the young generation in sensitive but vital discussions instead of shielding them from the real world. Jada Pinkett Smith addressed the backlash she received after including her 18-year-old daughter Willow in her chat about the heavy topic of domestic violence during a Red Table Talk episode.

On her Facebook show, the actress explained that ‘I just need people to understand Willow is not always at the table to talk about experiences or act as an expert of any kind, but as a student because her mom and her grandmother have both gone through a lot of things in life and it is about her hearing about our experiences and us being open to understanding what's happening in her life as well’

Jada acknowledged the criticism but she made it very clear that from her point of view, it’s very important to include the young adults in the family in such discussions and help them learn about the real world.

That way they can prepare them for the worst so they can avoid it and/or survive it.

Jada’s mother who was there to open up about her own experience with domestic abuse added that about 1.5 million high school students in America have confessed to being harmed physically by a romantic partner. And that’s only in the last year!

That being said, it makes total sense that they would want to include Willow since she’s at an age where she dates as well and could easily find herself caught in a toxic relationship.

Earlier this week, the family got candid about Adrienne’s abuse at the hands of her late husband Robsol Pinkett, Jr. It was a very emotional episode that left her and her daughter, Jada in tears.
