Jada Pinkett-Smith won’t be going to the 2018 Golden Globe Awards next year. The 75th Annual Golden Globes announced their nominations this morning, and Jada was shocked by the news.
According to reports, films like Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot, and The Big Sick, did not receive nominations despite being popular with audiences and well-liked by critics.
However, according to Jada, the lack of a nomination for the actress, Tiffany Haddish, is probably the biggest transgression of all.
Pinkett-Smith tweeted today to offer her opinion on the Golden Globes. She said, “I have so much to say on why Tiffany was not nominated for a Globe, but I won’t,” but actually she did.
Jada said the Awards Ceremony has a problem of “diversity,” because usually white people dominate the Award shows. According to Smith, the Golden Globes academy refused even to watch Girls Trip.
I have so much to say on why @TiffanyHaddish was not nominated for a Globe… but I won't ?

Jada said the irony is the academy asked Tiffany to speak at the ceremony, despite not getting an award. However, she doesn’t want to blame all of the problems on racism, because it’s more complicated than that.
Girls Trip was one of the most successful films this summer & Tiff was hands down the funniest person on screen in 2017 and we couldn't get eyes on the film or a press conference. How could a nom happen & how much more critical acclaim must a movie have to simply get a screening?

The wife of Will Smith said Hollywood is functioning on top of an antiquated system which needs to be updated. In a series of tweets, Jada noted Hollywood must emphasize the importance of gender and racial equality as well as inclusion.
As you may know, this isn’t the first time Jada has ranted about the lack of “diversity” at Hollywood award’s ceremonies.
She famously boycotted the Oscars last year allegedly because of her husband who didn’t get the nomination for the film, Concussion.
Not everybody agrees with Jada though. The legendary comedian, Chris Rock, joked that Jada boycotting the Oscars would be like him boycotting Rihanna’s underwear. He said, “I wasn’t even invited!”
