What does the first daughter think about her father, the president’s idea on how to avoid school shootings in the future? As you may remember, Donald Trump proposed a widely criticized solution – arming the teachers for defense purposes! Now, Ivanka Trump addressed her father’s statement on gun control and here’s what she said.
After the recent tragedy at a High School in Florida, a very important discussion on how to avoid such deadly attacks from now on started and Trump’s argument was that we should be arming the teachers!
Does Ivanka, who is not only his adviser but also his daughter, agree?
While she was visiting South Korea as part of the American presidential delegation to the Winter Olympics, she told NBC News: ‘To be honest, I do not know. Obviously, there would have to be an incredibly high standard for who’d be able to bear arms in our schools. But I think there’s no one solution for creating safety.’
She went on: ‘I think that having a teacher who’s armed and who cares deeply about her or his students and who’s capable and qualified to bear arms is not a bad idea, but it’s an idea that needs to be discussed.’
Well, her father is convinced that the solution to ending school shootings in the U.S. is adding more guns so maybe she should discuss this with him.
During a listening session with the survivors in Florida, Trump brought up the football coach who gave his life to save a student – Aaron Feis.
‘If the coach had a firearm when he ran at this guy – he was very brave, saved a lot of lives, I suspect. But if he had a firearm, he would not have had to run, he would’ve shot him, and that would’ve been the end of it,’ he argued.
