According to a new report, Barbara Kavovit is now officially a full-time cast member on the Real Housewives of New York City. Kavovit will replace Carole Radziwill, and join returning cast members LuAnn de Lesseps, Bethenny Frankel, Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley, and Tinsley Mortimer. And, an insider says that since Kavovit has known many of the women for years, she is fitting right in.
“Barbara is a no-nonsense chick,” says an inside source. “She’s already known many of these women for ages and has been a great fit so far. She doesn’t back down from a fight and isn’t afraid to speak her mind.”
Fans might remember that back in Season 9, Kavovit made an appearance with Radziwill, as the two women discussed an alleged fight between De Lesseps and her now ex-husband Tom D’Agostino Jr. At the time, Kavovit claimed she didn’t know Bravo cameras were recording her, so she took the network to court in an attempt to have the scene deleted. But, a judge threw the case out.
Now, it looks like Kavovit has no problems with being on camera. People Magazine is reporting that she was spotted filming with Frankel and Morgan at the launch of Frankel’s Skinnygirl jean line. And, she was also at the opening of Bluebird London with De Lesseps.
Another insider says that Kavovit is the “perfect housewife” because she is glamorous, fun, and outgoing. She is young at heart and very sweet. Plus, like Frankel, she is an extremely successful businesswoman who pushes a female empowerment message through her work.
For years, Kavovit worked for the large female-owned general contracting company, Anchor Construction. Now, she is the founder and CEO of Evergreen Construction, and she also has a line of tools for women called DIYVA. Kavovit has also dabbled in journalism, working as a home improvement correspondent on the WE network and as a columnist for the New York Daily News.
The Bronx-born Kavovit is also the mother of a college-age son.
Kavovit has had some drama in the past with de Lesseps, thanks to that Season 9 conversation with Radziwill, but they have put that all behind them, and the two women are currently on good terms. Sources say that “no one cares about that,” and Kavovit and de Lesseps are good friends and have made up.
So far, things are going well for Barbara Kavovit on RHONY, and earlier this week she joined the returning cast members as they filmed next season’s opening sequence.
Season 11 of the Real Housewives of New York City will premiere on Bravo in the spring of 2019.
