Despite all the controversy surrounding him, Brett Kavanaugh has been confirmed as the new Supreme Court Justice and now, Hollywood is reacting to the news. As you may know already, the man was accused of sexual assault.
Earlier today, the Senate confirmed him as the new Supreme Court Justice after receiving a 50-48 vote majority in his favor.
Alyssa Milano was one of the stars who took to social media to let her voice be heard.
She argued that people ‘need to prioritize protecting our courts, which starts with retaking the Senate.’
Milano went on in a thread: ‘Right-wing and special corporate interests selected this nominee and they propped up his nomination with tens of millions of dollars. They chose Kavanaugh because they know he’s a reliable vote; he’s a lifelong foot soldier for these interests, he’s a political operative who became one of the most partisan ideological judges in this country.’
She added that the fact that ‘they supported Kavanaugh despite disqualifying flaws – temperament, his dishonesty, his rabid partisanship and credible accusations of sexual assault – speaks to how beholden they are to these special interest powers, and how critical the Court is in their plan.’
According to the actress, ‘Wha has happened today is the culmination of a 30 plus years plan to capture the federal judiciary and to use our courts to line their pockets and to suppress the will of the people.
Chelsea Handler also reacted, slamming the Senate’s decision, by tweeting: ‘Another gross day in our country’s history, but the midterms are coming. We’re stronger than this bullshit. We can fight and fight and we might not see the results right away, but we’ll see them. Our daughters will see them. Do not give up. Fight harder.’
Mira Sorvino criticized not only the decision but also used this opportunity to remind everyone that someone even more controversial than Kavanaugh holds today a higher position than him.
‘Sadly I’ve retweeted this before… to think that so MANY women have accused Trump of worse than Kavanaugh, and he helped someone who’s interested in giving him more immunity get seated on the Supreme Court #roguesgallery #whereisjustice??? …’
The same idea was put into words by Brian Krassenstein as well, who decided to make a list of all the things the POTUS has been accused of.
‘Raping his Wife./Walking in on Naked Teens at Miss Univ. Dressing room./Admitting to grabbing women by the Pussy./ Raping a 13-year-old child./Raping, groping or sexually assaulting 17 other women./Yet no one cares.’
Many other Hollywood names were just as outraged and disappointed, and sadly, the majority was not surprised.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump also took to Twitter to congratulate the new Supreme Court Justice.
