Nearly every 90's baby was ecstatic to find out that a Lizzie McGuir e reboot was in the works. Because it was slated to premiere on Disney Plus, the writers and producers were worried about the show centered around a grown-up Lizzie in her 30's wouldn't be able to reach its full potential with a PG rating.

Hilary Duff even took to social media to plead for the series to get greenlit instead at Hulu, similar to Love, Victor that was originally supposed to stream on the Disney network.

The post-and-delete read: 'Was incredibly excited to launch ‘Lizzie’ on D+ and my passion remains. However, I feel a huge responsibility to honor the fans’ relationship with Lizzie who, like me, grew up seeing themselves in her. I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30-year-old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating.'

She went on to say that she was grateful for the two episodes that they already filmed but she would like it to be moved to Hulu so it gets the devotion it deserves.

This happened in February. Now that we are in a global pandemic, the entire industry is shifting.

While you may think that Hollywood isn't worried about spending the energy to get the business back on its feet on reboots, Duff recently said that she had high hopes for the show because it is consistently being talked about.

' We started shooting, and then obviously that got on hold for a couple of different reasons not involving the pandemic. But you know what, I have high hopes that we are going to make it work. It's like a responsibility to [Lizzie], honoring her and the fanbase that grew up with her. We kind of put her on pause, and had to go back to the drawing board.'

Duff went on to say that there is a lot of writing happening and that she's optimistic about the show's future.

A way that fans can help is to continue to voice their desire for the reboot.
