Rain Dove, a non-binary individual who is currently dating #MeToo advocate, Rose McGowan, revealed to NBC News that it was they who had sent the text message exchange to the police in which Asia Argento admitted to sexual intercourse with a minor.
Dove, who uses the gender pronoun, “they,” rather than “he,” or “she,” said they had no choice but to send the text messages otherwise they would be complicit.
During a chat with NBC News, the model explained that they would be “robbing” another person of their right to come out with their story of sexual abuse. Dove referred to Jimmy Bennett, the actor/musician who accused Asia of sexually assaulting him when he was just a 17-year-old boy.
As it was previously reported, the 22-year-old, claims Asia gave him alcohol and then seduced him at a time when he was a minor in accordance with California law. In the Western state, the legal age of consent for sexual intercourse is 18-years-old.
The 42-year-old actress, Argento, was widely regarded as being one of the most prominent voices in the #MeToo movement as well as the Time’s Up initiative, and she released a statement last week saying that she was “deeply shocked” by the allegations.
Back in October 2017, Asia was one of the main accusers regarding Harvey Weinstein, in addition to Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan, and Mira Sorvino.
In one of the messages between Argento and an unidentified person, Argento said she “had sex with him and it felt weird.” The actress said she didn’t know he was a minor until she had received the letter.
Allegedly, the actress convinced Anthony Bourdain to pay him $380,00 for his silence. The celebrity chef killed himself approximately eight months later in June of 2018, just four days before pictures surfaced in European media showing Asia cuddling up to other men.
