Robert De Niro didn’t have kind words for the president, Donald Trump, yet again. The 71-year-old politician came back to Los Angeles, and at the other end of the city the 74-year-old actor was bashing him outright with words like “idiot” and a person without “humanity and compassion.”
In his speech, according to Page Six, De Niro said that education is meaningless unless it’s coupled with humanity. He described Trump’s schooling at the University of Pennsylvania – while being a quality institution – wholly ineffective because of Trump’s character.
De Niro derided the president as “an idiot,” despite receiving an excellent education at a prestigious university. In the past, Trump explained himself as a “smart” person because of his education at the school.
And following his win during the 2016 presidential election, Donald took it upon himself once again to say that his success was “genius.”
When De Niro mentioned his name, the audience booed, and De Niro said Trump’s reign and administration was no joke and not to be fooled with.
He explained, “this is for real,” before going on to poke fun of Trump’s alleged lack of “humanity,” and “compassion,” as well as the “bone spurs” he suffered which led to Donald avoiding the draft for the Vietnam War.
Furthermore, as you may know, Trump’s eponymous university was the subject of scandal and controversy for several reasons.
The Academy Award winner poked fun of the university’s history and claimed the president makes a mockery of education for the sake of profit and personal gain. De Niro isn’t the only Hollywood celebrity to bash the head-of-state, as most in the entertainment industry has vehemently opposed him since the beginning.
