Henry Cavill is putting away his cape for good. The actor is reportedly done playing DC’s Superman after failing to agree to a new contract with the studio. With Cavill on the outs, will Ben Affleck follow his lead and quit playing Batman?
Cavill has not confirmed that he’s done playing Superman, but inside sources claim that he is walking away from the iconic role. Cavill recently shared an odd post on social media that featured him holding up a Superman action figure.
It is difficult to interpret what Cavill was trying to say in the post, but all signs point towards his exit from the franchise.
According to TMZ, Cavill was slated to reprise his role as the superhero in the upcoming Warner Bros. film Shazam! Producers, however, failed to reach a contract agreement with Cavill, who is no longer interested in playing Superman.
Cavill played Superman in Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Justice League, and was slated to work on another solo film.
Now that Cavill is no longer a part of the team, there is a lot of speculation that Affleck will be the next to go. Affleck is not expected to team up with director Matt Reeves for an upcoming Batman movie, a project that was supposedly in the works.
DC universe will miss Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck as Superman and Batman. WB is ready for resetting its universe with new faces. DC universe will rise and I bet the new faces will recreate the magic again. #DCUniverse

Affleck was originally slated to direct the film but eventually stepped down and let Reeves take over. Inside sources claim that Affleck is not working with Reeves, who has apparently found a replacement.
For DC, the only good news is that the studio has a lot of young talent still at its disposal in Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, and Gal Gadot. The three are fully expected to reprise their roles as Flash, Aquaman and Wonder Woman for years to come.
Warner Bros. has not commented on Cavill’s apparent exit.
