The entire country came to a stand still on Tuesday 24 May as news broke out of a shooting that took place in Uvalde, Texas, at Robb Elementary School. 18-year-old Salvador Ramos entered the school heavily armed and shot 19 students and 2 teachers, wounding at least 17 others. According to reports, before coming to school on the day of the shooting, Salvador had also attacked his grandmother, who ran away to her neighbor's house to inform the police, resulting in the authorities eventually reaching the school and shooting the lone gunman.

Celebrities and politicians alike expressed their grief at the tragic happening and the protest to act against gun violence in the country took steam once again.

Harry Styles took to his Instagram to express his grief and to announce that he has pledged to donate $1 million dollars to the cause of ending gun violence in America once and for all. His post read, "Along with all of you, I have been absolutely devastated by the recent string of mass shootings in America, culminating at the latest in Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas"

Styles mentioned that he will be partnering with a non-profit organization called Everytown For Gun Safety for this purpose. Styles said that $1 million from the proceeds from his upcoming North American tour will be going to Everytown For Gun Safety to support their efforts and Styles also said he will be sharing their suggested course of actions.  Following that, Style's next post shared a statistic according to which gun violence is the number 1 cause of death for children and teens in America, no doubt pointing towards the frequent occurrence of school shootings in the country, resulting from easy access to firearms.

Salvador Ramos had purchased 2 AR-15 riffles just a week before the day of the attack, when he had come of legal age. Along with the riffles, Salvador has also purchased 300 rounds of ammunition, a haul that had cost a total of $5000.

Everytown For Gun Safety has been working since 2013 to promote gun control in America and to put an end gun violence. Styles has said that he will be sharing their suggested course of action for tackling the issue of gun violence.
