Halsey Has Stopped Dating Musicians — Here’s Why
Halsey has just dropped an album that fans are responding quite well to. In addition to addressing why she is notorious for writing about her exes, she explained why she is no longer going to date musicians.
Halsey and Yungblud dated for about a year before she moved on with American Horror Story actor Evan Peters.
Their relationship was shared on social media and the two even collaborated on a song. In a recent interview with Zane Lowe, she revealed that just because the courtship ended doesn’t mean Yungblud was a bad person.
He inspired one of her singles titled Finally // beautiful stranger from her new album.
‘I wrote it at home. I wrote it in my living room at 2am. I was dating Dom. I was really happy. I was thinking about the night that we met. I needed to tell this romantic story. I’d not written a love song before, not one without a punchline… It’s just a nice song. It’s about feeling safe and feeling like you can trust love. People sometimes justifiably, sometimes not, swarm someone’s ex and develop all these narratives about them. And he’s just a really awesome guy.’
She added that there is a narrative that if you date her she’ll write a song about you. She doesn’t deny the stigma but instead wishes people would understand that it isn’t a bad thing.
Halsey also revealed that she’s done with dating other musicians for the time being.
‘I stopped dating musicians which is for my own benefit. I want everyone to be the best version of themselves so much that I sometimes don’t focus on making me the best version of myself. I do everything in my power to help them succeed… And then, at some point, I’m like where do I fit in this box.’
