Gwyneth Paltrow married Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk over the weekend in an intimate ceremony in the Hamptons, and even though it was a celebrity-filled event, her ex-husband Chris Martin didn’t attend. The Coldplay singer was 100 miles away performing at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City.
Martin sang at the annual event that began in 2012, and other singers who performed at Central Park’s Great Lawn included John Legend, Janet Jackson, and Cardi B.
As Martin took the stage in New York City, Paltrow was preparing for her wedding on the lawn of her home in East Hampton. Martin and Paltrow — who share daughter Apple, 14, and son Moses, 12 — split in 2014 after ten years of marriage, but they remain on good terms and co-parent together. The Oscar-winning actress famously referred to her breakup from Martin as a “conscious uncoupling.”

Cameras caught Falchuk driving himself to the wedding, and they also spotted guests like Jerry Seinfeld, Steven Spielberg, Robert Downey Jr., Cameron Diaz, and Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden. Seinfeld actually held a rehearsal dinner for Paltrow and Falchuk at his Hamptons home on Friday night.
The couple had only 75 guests at their wedding, which was a low-key event compared to their star-studded engagement party in March.
According to Us Weekly, Falchuk and Paltrow got engaged in November 2017 after dating for three years. As for Chris Martin, he is currently dating Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson, and insiders say that Paltrow completely approves of the relationship.
“Gwyneth is happy if Chris is happy,” says an insider. “She only wants the best for him.”
Paltrow and Falchuk’s wedding took place on September 29th, and the 46-year-old It’s All Good author was reportedly involved in the wedding setup, including decorating her home with white tents, tables, and chairs. She and Falchuk, who is also the co-creator of American Horror Story, spent the majority of the day apart before they exchanged vows.
In a subtle confirmation that she did marry Falchuk, Paltrow posted a pic on Instagram the day after the ceremony that showed her and Falchuk’s left hands wearing matching gold wedding bands. She did not add a caption to the pic.
Paltrow’s mother, Blythe Danner, said that the wedding was “gorgeous,” and the most beautiful ceremony she has ever seen.
Gwyneth Paltrow announced her engagement to Falchuk in the January issue of Goop magazine, and she described him as the man she was “meant to be with.” The couple met on the set of Glee in 2010 when she was a guest star.
