Gwen Stefani Reveals The Real Reason She Didn't Return To 'The Voice' As Fans Take To Twitter Begging Her To Return
The newest season of NBC’s The Voice is here, but one loveable judge is missing from the panel. Gwen Stefani did not return for season 13, and the singer recently revealed why she wouldn’t be on the show this time around.
Stefani told E! that she was sad she had to leave the show, but she knew her chair was in good hands with new judge Jennifer Hudson and returning judge Miley Cyrus. Gwen’s man Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are also back for Season 13.
"I have so much fun on the show. You get really invested in it, it's emotional... but at the same time I love doing it,” Stefani said. "It really fuels my music side. Because you're around so much music the whole time, it's impossible to watch the talent be so great and not want to do that."
Fans took to Twitter en masse during the premiere to let Stefani know they were sad and already missing her.
Does Gwen Stefani’s absence from The Voice mean she could move to the other reality singing competition on TV, American Idol ? Katy Perry is the only judge to have signed on so far, and the show is actively seeking other stars to join her.
The former No Doubt lead singer says anything is possible, but she doubts that would work out because Perry took most of the show’s budget for the panel when she reportedly signed on for $25 million.
Even though Stefani, 47, didn’t return this season to The Voice , her country music superstar boyfriend Shelton, 41, did; and, he reportedly spent the evening of the premiere watching it with his special lady and her sons, Kingston, and Zuma, and Apollo.
Stefani’s oldest two are big fans of their mom’s boyfriend and love to watch him on TV. According to a source, they all got together to make a night out of watching the season 13 kickoff by spending time together as a family and eating junk food.
All three sons of the Used to Love You singer are attached to Shelton and have bonded with him when the spend time fishing, camping, and playing guitar on his Oklahoma ranch.
The Voice airs on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on NBC.
