Guardians Of The Galaxy Actors Write Open Letter, Asking For James Gunn’s Job Back As The Director Of Vol. 3

Stars of the upcoming installment of Guardians of the Galaxy wrote a lengthy and sincere open letter today, asking for director James Gunn to be given back his job following his resurfaced tweets scandal. Chris Pratt, Sean Gunn, Michal Rooker, Pom Klementieff and Zoe Saldana defended the man against the criticism he’s received and the punishment that supposedly doesn’t really fit the crime.
As you may already be aware, the writer and director was fired by Disney after some social media users dug up some decade-old tweets in which Gunn was making shocking jokes about rape, pedophilia, and other controversial topics.
Chris Pratt shared the letter on his Instagram account, captioning it: ‘Although I do not support James Gunn’s inappropriate jokes from years ago, he’s a good man. I would personally love to see him reinstated as the director of Volume 3,’ and pleading with the fans to read the letter signed by the cast members.
The said letter starts with the clear statement that they ‘fully support’ the filmmaker.
‘We were all shocked by his abrupt firing last week and have intentionally waited these ten days to respond in order to think, pray, listen and discuss. In that time, we’ve been encouraged by the outpouring of support from fans and members of the media who wish to see James reinstated as director of Volume 3, as well as discouraged by those so easily duped into believing the many outlandish conspiracy theories surrounding him,’ the text goes on.
The stars once again stressed that they do not defend his old, inappropriate jokes but base their decision on the many years they have worked with Gunn, time during which they were able to get to know him as a good person.
They went on to say that they, as some members of the public have already accepted his apology that they think is ‘from the heart.’
