There is a new face coming to Grey Sloan Memorial this season. Grey’s Anatomy has been on the hunt to find an actress to play the part of Derek Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) fourth sister, Kathleen, and the search is officially over.

The medical drama just revealed that Amy Acker will appear as Kathleen in an upcoming episode of Grey’s Anatomy . Acker is well known for playing the part of Kelly Peyton on Alias and is currently starring on the hit show The Gifted . We do not know why Kathleen, who works as a psychiatrist, has suddenly decided to show up in Seattle, but we do know that she will cross paths with Derek’s other sibling, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone).

According to Entertainment Weekly , Derek first mentioned his fourth sister back in the third season of the show. Apart from Amelia, we have already been introduced to two of his other sisters, including Nancy (Embeth Davitz) and Liz (Neve Campbell).  It is unclear if Acker’s role this season is recurring.

Acker has made appearances in a slew of television shows over the years, including Suits , Angel , CSI and Person of Interest . Derek was tragically killed a few seasons ago. It is not known if Kathleen and Amelia will discuss his untimely death or not, but it will be interesting meeting another one of Derek’s siblings.

ABC just purchased three additional episodes for Season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy , extending the count to 25 this season. The president of ABC’s entertainment division, Karey Burke, recently teased that negotiations are underway to bring the series back for at least one more season. Burke revealed that ratings are still going strong for the medical drama, which is definitely good news for the future of the series.

“We’re thrilled with  Grey’s  performance; I was visiting the set earlier this week. I believe the status is that we’re in conversations about continuing the show,” Burke shared.

Season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy continues with new episodes Thursday nights on ABC.
