ABC’s long-running hit show Grey’s Anatomy’s spin-off, following the work and lives of Seattle firefighters, has finally been named. Station 19 will premiere in just under two months and a few of the characters will first be introduced during an episode of Grey’s.
March 22nd is the night that the new show will premiere and former Grey’s star, now Station’s 19 series regular, Jason George couldn’t be happier.
George has been doing press for the show, explaining how the new addition to Shondaland will work both separately and in conjunction with the original.
When asked if he was nervous about leaving such a powerhouse show to take his character in another direction, George says that he’s not worried about the shift at all because everything will still take place largely in the Grey’s Anatomy universe.
His character is still married to the Chief of Surgery, Miranda Bailey, one of the most beloved characters on Grey’s and many of his friends are still on that show as well.

Basically calling Station 19, “Grey’s adjacent” many of the aspects that make Grey’s Anatomy so great and have such longevity will be present in this new show as well.
George is also tremendously excited about how action packed the spin-off will be, much as Grey’s can be in the midst of a big medical fiasco, the firefighters in this new show will likely go through many harrowing, tension-filled scenes as they race against time and fire to save lives and properties.
George also opens up about becoming emotional during his last scene filmed on Greys, he says he didn’t expect to have such a visceral reaction to the farewell that was necessary.
It will be incredibly shortlived though as his character will likely show up on that show again from time to time, as will some of the other staple characters. Crossovers are all but guaranteed amongst most spinoff shows.
