There’s a lot to celebrate in the Bush family home. On Saturday, November 25, 2017, George H.W. Bush became the longest living president in U.S. history after beating president Gerald Ford’s record. President George H.W. Bush turned 93 and 166 days old. Former president Ford lived 93 days and 165 days old, holding the record for the longest living president until President Bush claimed the title. President Ford passed away in 2006. Coming in third is President Ronald Reagan who lived 93 years and 127 days at the time of his passing. That doesn’t mean that President George Bush doesn’t have competition. President Jimmy Carter has lived 93 years and 55 days, as of Saturday, Nov. 25. President Bush celebrated the accomplishment as his fraternal-twin granddaughters, Jenna Bush Hager and Barabra Bush celebrated their 36th birthdays on Nov. 25, 2017, as well.
President George H.W. Bush and his wife Barbara Bush (92) have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Jan. 6 2017. Both George and Barbara are enjoying their elderly years and have faced many health crises together. Due to health complications, they did not attend President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Both Bushes had been hospitalized at Houston Methodist Hospital during the inaugural proceedings. President Bush was hospitalized for pneumonia, while First Lady Barbara Bush was treated for bronchitis. They both recovered and were released in time to attend the Super Bowl in person.

Jenna Bush Hager gave a birthday shout-out to her sister Barbara on Instagram and shared a black and white photo of the two embracing. Jenna Bush Hager regularly shares photos with Barbara and the two appear just as close as they were during their White House years.
Jenna captioned the pic with the following sweet message.
“Happiest Birthday to my partner in ALL for the last 36 years! I can’t imagine my life without your enormous heart ❤️ teaching me to love and your hand entwined in mine all these years. Thanks for sharing this wild and precious life with me! Love you, beast. Xx.”
Both Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush were on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon as they discussed their new book Sisters First. You may see a video clip from that interview below.
The Bush girls weren’t the only ones sharing the birthday love on Instagram.
First Lady Laura Bush shared a throw-back pick of President George W. Bush holding his newborn twins and also shared a wonderful birthday message with her daughters.
The First Lady wrote the following message.
“Thirty-six years ago today our precious girls were born. They’ve brought joy to our lives every day since. Happy Birthday to Barbara and Jenna!”Advertisement
