Following the massive job-shaming scandal Geoffrey Owens had to endure, he’s now happy to see that people reached out to him in a positive way. One of those individuals was the director, Tyler Perry, who went so far as to offer the actor a job.
Owens, who used to star on the Cosby Show, was photographed by paparazzi bagging groceries while at a Trader Joe’s grocery store. During an interview on Good Morning America, in reference to the ordeal, the actor said: “it’s been surreal.”
The Cosby Show alum explained that, thus far, his situation has been “non-stop contact and emails, phone calls, texts, and interviews.” Despite the peculiarity of the situation, he’s actually enjoying himself quite a lot.
As it was previously reported, last week, the Daily Mail and Fox News got photos of the actor bagging groceries at a Trader Joes in New Jersey. The actor, who has worked there for 15 months, said he got a gig there as a way of ensuring “flexibility.”
Since then, however, Geoffrey actually quit his job, probably due to the overwhelming positive reaction he received since The Daily Mail and Fox News released the photos.

In fact, Tyler offered Owens a job on his OWN Drama. The director said he has a lot of “respect for people who hustle between gigs.”
In response, The Cosby Show alum said it’s “certainly very generous of him.” At first, he was devastated and embarrassed by the release of the photos, but after the outpouring of support, he was able to “see the humor in the situation.”
As fans of the actor know, he played Elvin Tibideaux on The Cosby Show from 1985 until 1992.
It’s worth mentioning that he co-starred along with Bill Cosby, who has since been convicted of sexual assault – three counts. The disgraced comedian is currently awaiting sentencing. While the allegations were devastating to Bill’s legacy, for Owens, it’s been much less important, and rightfully so.
