It has been a minute since Sean Bean’s last appearance on Game of Thrones, and he is a little out of practice keeping secrets. Ahead of the final season of HBO’s hit fantasy drama, Bean accidentally spilled info about a secret reunion producers filmed that featured some former fan favorites.
The reunion took place while the cast and crew were filming Season 8 of Game of Thrones in Belfast a few months ago. Conan O’Brien hosted the event and Bean revealed that it was great catching up with the rest of cast, many of whom he has not kept in touch with over the years.

“Yes, it was for season eight, the last one. So, they decided to get all the characters together for a bit for this big show in Belfast…” Bean spilled.
Bean’s revelation about the reunion helps explain why some previous cast members were present on set earlier this year.
According to Entertainment Weekly, this includes Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo), who was present in Belfast while production for Season 8 was in full swing. HBO has not confirmed the reunion special, but it could explain why Momoa and others were in town during filming.

This is the first time Game of Thrones has done any sort of reunion and it is not clear why the network decided to hire O’Brien to host the event. While fans would love to see Bean and Momoa reunite with their co-stars on the small screens, a reunion special is a great way to see all the cast back together one last time. Given how HBO has not said anything about the reunion, it is a safe bet that Bean was not supposed to talk about it.
Bean played the part of Ned Stark in Season 1 of Game of Thrones. His character was killed off during the Season 1 finale and has made a few cameos since then, mostly in Bran Stark’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright) flashbacks.
Season 8 of Game of Thrones is expected to premiere sometime in early 2019.
