HBO just confirmed that the rumored Game of Thrones reunion is real. The reunion special, hosted by late-night talk show host, Conan O’Brien, was filmed in Belfast a few months ago and featured some fan favorites from previous seasons.

Reports of the reunion surfaced earlier this year after several former Game of Thrones stars were spotted in Belfast. HBO refused to comment on the rumors until recently.

Which characters will be featured on the reunion special?

According to Entertainment Weekly , most of the actors who are in Season 8 were at the reunion, along with several actors who played pivotal roles in the earlier seasons. This includes Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo) and Sean Bean (Ned Stark).

Bean and Momoa’s characters were killed off in the first season of Game of Thrones . Momoa is a huge fan of the show and has visited the set on multiple occasions.

It is unclear who else showed up for the reunion, but fans can expect to see the majority of the actors who made it to the final season. We assume that includes Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), though we’ll have to wait for official confirmation on that.

Although the reunion news is super exciting (who doesn’t want to see Bean and Momoa back in action?), HBO is not planning on releasing the special on its platform.

Instead, fans will have to purchase the entire series box set to watch the reunion. HBO is planning on releasing the set after the final season is over.

Until then, the cast and crew of HBO are gearing up for the premiere of Season 8. We are still months away from the show’s return, but producers recently shared some promotional photos in New York City.

The images featured character death shots from previous seasons, which understandably angered some fans who are not caught up.

Season 8 of Game of Thrones will premiere in April of 2019.
