Academy Award nominee Frank Langella has lost the lead role in the upcoming Netflix streaming mini-series The Fall of the House of Usher, based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe.

According to insider information obtained by Deadline, the famous actor was accused of inappropriate behavior on the set. Based on the results of the investigation, the court found Langella guilty, which led to his dismissal from the series.

The production of the eight-episode project is in full swing. Scenes featuring Langella will be re-shot. Until a new actor is found to play Roderick Asher, filming will continue without the character's participation. Netflix refrains from commenting, as do the actor's reps.

The investigation was launched after the 84-year-old actor was accused of sexual harassment, including making inappropriate comments to a co-star while on the job, according to sources citing a TMZ report released a few days earlier. The series stars Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, and Mark Hamill. The series, which will be directed by Mike Flanagan, is described as an epic tale of greed, horror, and tragedy.
