In a brand new interview, the star opened up about her kidney transplant and what she had to go through because of it! Check out the details of her recovery here!
Thankfully, both Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa’s transplant was a success.
However, that doesn’t mean the entire process was not super hard on Francia who apparently struggled a lot to return to a normal life after saving her best friend’s life.
During an interview with Harry Connick Jr. on Harry, the star told us all about her recovery and how it was actually a lot more challenging than Gomez’s
‘Yeah, it is harder as the donor because we’re losing something our body did not need to lose, and she is gaining something her body needed. So she is up and at it immediately, and I had a hard time. I basically have four scars. It was laparoscopic — the mothers out there who had C-sections, I feel you. I do not know how you take care of a child afterward. It’s crazy! I could not get up without someone helping me. That was very humbling.’
Francia explained that after the transplant, she could not move almost at all for months, so she needed constant assistance.
‘I could not take a shower by myself, I had to have someone help me because I could not move. I am a very active person, so the fact that my doctor said I could not move for two months! Two months, I could not do anything active. All I could do was walk. It was very hard for me, and I have a dog, and every day the thing I look forward to is drinking my coffee and walking, and I could not do that. It was really hard.’
That makes us admire her bravery and selflessness even more!
The full interview will be out on February 19 so make sure to check it out!
