Former Production Assistant Addie Zinone has decided to confess that she used to have a secret relationship with disgraced Matt Lauer when she was just 24 years old. Read what she had to say about their inappropriate work fling.
Addie Zinone, who is now 41 stated: ‘It was a consensual encounter. It happened in his dressing room. He got in his car and I had to go back to work, and my life had completely changed.’

Their first encounter took place on July 12, 2000.
But even though what happened between her and Lauer was consensual, it’s still an example of what can happen when people in positions of power use that influence to manipulate others.
Addie shared a detailed recounting of their fling and even text messages that Matt had sent her at the time.
‘OK…NOW YOU ARE KILLING ME…YOU LOOK GREAT TODAY! TOUGH TO CONCENTRATE,’ he texted.
But the woman, who had just been hired thought someone was pulling a prank.
Nevertheless, Matt insisted it was him texting her.
‘I did not know what to do. He was obviously flirting. But I had never seen anything like that from Matt before. As a 24-year-old production assistant, I had no idea how to interpret that. I could really embarrass myself if I said something like, ‘Where are you going with this?’’ the woman explained.
Then, she had a meeting with the former Today co-host to ask him for some pieces of advice on a job she was set to start as a local anchor on WDTV Channel 5 in West Virginia.
‘We went to lunch. My intentions were professional. I thought this was a great way to get some constructive, real-world advice. But what it turned into was an opportunity for him to come on to me. It was flattering, overwhelming, confusing. I was so nervous. I did not know what to do with it. He was clearly trying to guide the conversation. He was there to hit on me and manipulate the situation, and I fell for it. Here is how I should’ve known what I was getting myself into. When we left, he told me: ‘You leave first, and I will leave after.’’
After their first encounter in his dressing room, they met a few more times.
He once called her to his office.
‘I sat across from him, and he pushed a button from his desk and the door shut. It was so embarrassing, as his secretary was outside. He wanted to do stuff. I was like, ‘No. I am so in over my head. I am not a performance artist.’’
The last time she saw Lauer was at the Democratic National Convention in California back in 2000 and that is when Matt gave yet another inappropriate ‘task.’
Leaning in, Lauer supposedly whispered in her ear, telling Addie to meet him in the bathroom in five minutes.
A few weeks later, a reporter approached her asking about the sort of relationship they had (she said ‘just friends’).
Scared that everyone would find out about the affair, Lauer ghosted Addie.
‘My experience as an anchor turned out to be traumatic, and I quit. I was in depression. This man who I had held on a pedestal made me feel like my looks and body were my only assets. He made it clear that he was not interested in my skills or my talent. It shattered everything,’ Addie stated.
