Chip and Joanna Gaines are returning to television in a big way. The former Fixer Upper stars just announced that they are launching their own network, Magnolia Network, as part of a partnership with HGTV’s parent company, Discovery. The channel is expected to go live within the next year.
The couple announced the exciting news during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. Chip and Joanna’s network, which is named after their company, will replace another channel on the Discovery lineup.
The deal, which would include content production across all screens, would likely give the couple behind "Fixer Upper" a minority stake in one of Discovery’s smaller channels https://t.co/XFJJgTX7nQ

An inside source revealed that Discovery will probably ditch Great American Country, Destination America or DIY to make room for Chip and Joanna.
“We signed a non-disclosure and it said, quote unquote, you can tell your mother, but that’s it,” Chip shared. “So mom, I just wanted to make a quick announcement, we are coming back to television.”
The pair decided to end Fixer Upper earlier this year. Since then, several companies have been trying to get them on board, including the streaming giant, Netflix.
According to USA Today, Chip revealed that starring on HGTV for the past five years has helped them avoid any major pitfalls while negotiating their newest venture. Chip also explained how a lot of the work on the channel will be done in Waco, Texas. This enables them to work at home and spend time with their growing family.
Following the interview, Discovery released a press announcement confirming the news. The network revealed that Chip and Joanna’s channel will feature family-oriented material but did not release any more content related details.

Along with providing programming, the couple will own a small stake in the channel. The last time Discovery did something on this magnitude was when it collaborated with Oprah Winfrey.
It is going to be really interesting seeing what Chip and Joanna put together for their very own channel. If Fixer Upper is anything to go by, we are pretty confident that the channel will be a crushing success.
