Former Boy Meets World Actress Maitland Ward Reveals Her Latest Career Choice: Becoming An Adult Star
Old-school nostalgia is all the rage these days as numerous movies and TV shows from the 1980s and 1990s have had successful reboots in recent years, including the popular ABC sitcom Boy Meets World , which returned with the spinoff Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017. But, Maitland Ward - who played Rachel McGuire during Seasons 6 and 7 of Boy Meets World - isn’t interested in revisiting her character from the classic teen comedy. Instead, she has entered the world of adult films with her new project Drive .
The 42-year-old actress recently told In Touch Weekly why she decided to make the surprising career change.
“They asked me to be a part of this, and I thought, ‘I never knew there was anything in adults or porn or whatever that was this well done.’ I read the script, and I was like, ‘This is really, really well written.’”
Ward signed with the adult talent agency Society 15 earlier this year, and she says that her latest film explores “so many themes” and her character is very different than what she has portrayed in the past.
Ward says she was “ready” and she needed to this, but it wasn’t like she had been thinking about doing porn for a long time. The actress says she felt like “quality stuff” and “hot sex stuff” can go together, and she really wanted that.
The gorgeous red-head has been promoting her new movie on social media, and the images shocked many of her 690K followers on Instagram, who not only know her for Boy Meets World, but for her appearances in Home Improvement, Rules of Engagement, and White Chicks.
"Can not believe I just found out you do porn,” wrote one fan, while another asked, "Why can't Topanga be part of his too??"
Of course, that was a fun reference to the Boy Meets World character Topanga, played by Danielle Fishel, who just gave birth to her son Adler earlier this year.
Ward says that she “doesn’t give a f***” when it comes to talking about her new X-rated career because she has matured and “I want to be who I am.”
Boy Meets World ran from 1993 to 2000, and it starred Ben Savage as Cory Matthews, who went from middle school student to college student during the course of the series.
Cory and his girlfriend Topanga, plus his brother Eric and best friend Shawn, were the main characters of the series. Maitland Ward joined the cast during Season 6 as one of Eric’s college roommates.
