Florence Henderson, who was beloved for her character Carol Brady on the T.V sitcom The Brady Bunch, appears in her last movie Bad Grandmas that is released today. Starring Pam Grier, Judge Reinhold, Sally Eaton, and Sally Wall, Bad Grandmas is the story of four grandmothers who accidentally kill a con man. Though the accidental death is bad enough, things take a turn for the worse when his partner in crime shows up wanting answers. Florence Henderson passed away on November 24, 2016, after a long, successful career in movies and television.
For those who have been a long-term fan of Florence Henderson, Bad Grandmas is the last chance to see her on the silver screen.
Fans of The Brady Bunch might be surprised to find that Florence Henderson’s character of Mimi is hardly the sweet, demure woman the public came to know and love in Carol Brady. Some fans were surprised to see Florence holding a gun in the trailer and in the poster art.
Apparently, Florence Henderson was a bit different in real life as she was on the television screen. Bad Grandmas director Srikant Chellappa spoke about Florence after she passed away and described her as telling raunchy jokes on the set.
He also described Florence as continually buying food for everyone and that she had a love for spicy, Thai food.
Srikant Chellappa said he felt that she didn’t get the type of diverse roles she could handle.
Originally titled Grandmother’s Murder Club, Bad Grandmas was filmed in St. Louis, Missouri in 2015. Due to the location, the film will also premiere at the St. Louis International Film Festival in November.
Before the grandmothers were committing murder and hiding bodies to cover up crimes, they were spending time in church.
It’s more than possible that Florence Henderson was typecast as the sweet, mother due to her beloved performance on The Brady Bunch.
A singer first, Florence Henderson began her successful stage career by performing in musicals such as Oklahoma and South Pacific before landing on Broadway. She made the transition to television in the fifties. But it was her role on The Brady Bunch for which she’ll always be remembered.
