Former Counting On stars Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard have been posting a lot on social media lately, and some fans think it’s because the couple misses the spotlight. After leaving their family’s reality show (because TLC fired him, and she decided to stand by her man) is it possible that Duggar and Dillard are desperate to once again be the center of attention?
Alongside an Instagram live video of Dillard and his family at the park, a Reddit user wrote that it was official that the couple is missing the limelight.
Another added, “These two LOVE the spotlight, they’re trying so hard to remain relevant and in the public eye.”
As In Touch Weekly reports, since November – when TLC gave Dillard the ax after his multiple transphobic Twitter rants – the couple seems to only get negative press. From his political views to her fashion choices and parenting style, Dillard and Duggar get backlash for everything they post on social media.
Now, Duggar has announced that she is starting a midwife company, and critics are saying that she is putting lives at risk. Women in the Duggar family don’t usually get to have a job, but they have apparently made an exception for Jill.
Since they left Counting On, not a lot of cash has been flowing into their bank account now that both Dillard and Duggar are out of work. Fans were quick to criticize them because they have two sons to raise and they have been soliciting money online via GoFundMe.
So, her husband and father have accepted Duggar’s decision to enter the workforce, but it is because of the nature of her business that they are so supportive. Simply put, in their eyes, it’s woman’s work.
As a midwife, Duggar has launched an in-home service that she confusingly named Labor Sit. But, some believe that she has not received proper training, and she is putting lives at stake.
The 27-year-old didn’t practice for years, and some think that is because she faked her certification and wasn’t qualified to perform the work. But, that is an exaggeration. Duggar did receive certification, but not from an organization that people take seriously.
Usually, midwives get a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification after getting their bachelor’s degree plus getting one year of nursing experience and three years in a midwifery program. But Duggar has a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) license, something that you can earn after taking a few tests and writing a paper.
She was also involved in sketchy business practices. The state of Arkansas revoked her mentor’s license after a botched delivery, and insiders say that Duggar was there, but there is no evidence to support that claim.
However, it looks like Jill Duggar is now a businesswoman, and her increased social media presence could be an effort to promote her new venture.
New episodes of Counting On will return to TLC later this summer.
