Ewan McGregor’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Eve Mavrakis, spoke on her divorce from Ewan in an interview with The Sun on Sunday. As you may know, Ewan and Eve decided it would be best for them to break up after twenty-two years of marriage.
It’s “disappointing and upsetting” for both of them, but at this point, Eve’s primary concern is their children. Mavrakis and McGregor currently share four of them. In a report from E! News, McGregor cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of their marriage’s demise. They formally split up last year on the 28th of May, 2017.
McGregor requested shared physical and legal custody of their children – who are nearly all minors – including Jamyan, Esther, Anouk, and Clara – who is legally an adult. Additionally, Ewan opted to pay spousal support. Celebrity Insider reported last year in October that Ewan was spotted kissing his co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead when he was in London, England.
On Instagram, Mavrakis commented on their relationship but didn’t say a lot. One person wrote in response to Eve, “What can I do?”
McGregor sparked contentious rumor in the gossip circuit when he thanked his co-star as well as his wife in the 2018 Golden Globes acceptance speech. After he won the award for Best Actor in a Limited Series, Ewan took the stage to thank his wife of 22 years.
Later on, in the same monologue, Ewan said there would’ve been “no Ray” if not for Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Ray is the character Ewan portrays on the FX show.
And while some people criticized Ewan’s intention to thank both women, other individuals on social media claimed that it was the classy thing to do. After all, if Eve and Mary both supported him through the filming of the series, it’s only right for him to thank them, regardless of personal squabbles.
