Evan Rachel Wood had a chance to star in the cult classic, Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey, and Rachel McAdams. During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Wood admitted there was a time when she considered joining the cast but had to turn it down for one simple reason.
According to the actress, she was simply busy with other films at the time. She couldn’t star in the legendary 2004 movie because at that moment she was working on another called, Pretty Persuasion.
“And I was already kind of doing that, so I was like, ‘I can’t,'” the star explained. With that said, Wood is a huge fan of Tina Fey and acknowledged her last appearance on the show.
Wood said that she’s sorry if their relationship ever got “off on the wrong foot,” and admitted she would happily play the lead in any of her movies if she ever wrote one again.
As you may know, Fey was on the talk show to promote her latest adaption of Mean Girls to Broadway. The play opened this month to rave reviews.
As it was previously reported, some of the film’s alumni including Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Seyfried expressed a lot of interest in going to see it, however, an invitation wasn’t extended to either of them.
As for Rachel McAdams, who famously played Regina George, the film’s antagonist, she hasn’t said much on the matter, because she’s most famously known for avoiding fame, ironically.
Nevertheless, perhaps Evan Rachel Wood will get her chance to star in a Tina Fey-led production in the future. We could easily see her as a Regina George.
