Actress Katie Holmes recently revealed that there would be a Dawson’s Creek reunion on its way and now we know what she was referring to. The entire original cast of the late 90’s hit, all met for a walk down memory lane 20 years after the show debuted. The fab four, compiling of Holmes, James Van Der Beek, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams were joined by other members of the cast Kerr Smith, Busy Philipps, Meredith Monroe, and Mary Beth Peil.
Dawson’s Creek ran for 6 seasons, amassed an enormous following, catapulted many of the actors into superstardom and is even still considered one of the greatest teen dramas of all time.
This show was one of the first to deal with many issues in a way that gave teenagers full agency and autonomy over their growing minds, bodies, and relationships.
In 2000, they were the first network show that aired an episode where a gay couple kissed.
The careers of Michelle Williams, Joshua Jackson, and Katie Holmes are the ones of much note as Williams has been nominated for an Academy Award, the highest, most prestigious award for acting, a total of four times.
Williams is also well known for the relationship she had with late actor, Academy Award-winning Heath Ledger, who is the father of her daughter Matilda.
You no longer have to wait, #DawsonsCreek fans! ?For the first time since the 2003 finale, the cast of one of the most iconic, beloved, and meme-worthy teen dramas ever has reunited. Jackson has had steady work since the shows end and currently appears on critically acclaimed series The Affair.
Holmes, who was thrust into the spotlight because of her relationship with movie star Tom Cruise, has sustained a lovely career herself appearing in various movies and keeping her private life just that.
When the cast was asked about the possibility of a reboot, none seemed very keen on the idea.
The character Williams played, Jen Lindley, died at the end of the series and Holmes thinks that the show predating the internet and social media gave it a magical nostalgic luster.
Creator Kevin Williamson doesn’t think that the wonder or emotion of the show could be recreated if it came from him, but he’s not opposed to someone else giving it a shot.
With the magnitude of many of these actor’s current careers, Dawson’s Creek will likely stay untouched, right where it is in the television history books.
