Ellen DeGeneres Gets Emotional During Monologue About Her Talk Show Coming To An End!
The host announced that The Ellen DeGeneres Show is coming to an end after its 19th season and she delivered an emotional speech about this huge chapter in her and her viewers’ lives. Check out what Ellen had to say about the tough decision.
Ellen DeGeneres told her fans that she decided to ‘trust [her] instincts’ and end the talk show after so many years of being on air.
Naturally, despite her confidence that it was the right thing to do, she still got emotional while telling viewers all about it.
While standing on stage on her show, Ellen told her audience that ‘Today, I have an announcement to make. Today, I am announcing that next season is going to be my last. So, the past 18 years, you have to know, has really changed my life. You have all changed my life and I’m forever grateful to all of you for watching, laughing, dancing… sometimes crying. This show’s been the greatest experience of my whole life, and I owe it all to you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.’
The host mentioned that back when she signed a deal for 3 more years, she always knew, in her heart, that the 19th season would be her last.
‘My instinct told me it is time. As a comedian, I have always understood the importance of timing. In all seriousness, I have felt like next season was the time to end this amazing chapter.’
Ellen’s monologue ended with her promising all her fans that this final season is going to be a ‘fantastic’ one before thanking everyone for their massive support all these years.
The news about the talk show ending first made headlines yesterday morning and before she could address it on the episode later that same day, she told Hollywood Reporter that ‘When you are a creative person, you need to be challenged constantly… and as great and fun as this show is, it’s just not a challenge anymore.’
