The Duggar family has worshipped at Cross Church in Rogers, Arkansas, for many years, so the senior pastor, Dr. Ronnie Floyd, has had a plethora of opportunities to share his beliefs with the reality TV stars and the rest of his congregation.
Dr. Floyd has also written a book titled The Gay Agenda, and in it, he slammed the homosexual lifestyle and made shocking claims against gay people. Do the Duggars agree with his views or will they break ties with the church and the controversial pastor?
Radar is reporting that in his book, Dr. Floyd discusses what he calls the “gay agenda,” and he explains that the goal is “to baptize” people into the gay lifestyle, so it becomes normal for everyone to see and hear it.
He also claims that being gay is causing societal problems that are dividing homes, churches, and the entire nation.
Dr. Floyd preaches that the Bible says marriage is between one man and one woman, and he believes that gay people are making a “blatant and pervasive” attempt to destroy marriage and redefine it.
This week, I had the opportunity to encourage other moms and share with them tips I have learned along life’s way. As a busy mom with a growing family through the years, I never imagined me being the one to talk to crowds! My days were filled with all the daily chores of being a mom. Yet, I am so thankful for the opportunity to share our story with others and encourage moms in their faith, their marriages and raising their children. I am amazed at how God can use an imperfect person like me to encourage and help others. I always pray that I’ll have the right words and share my heart with love and care to the lives I come in contact with. I’ve discovered that it is in the most difficult trials of life that we grow the most spiritually and learn to trust God the most. I think sharing out of our joys and our sorrows, allows us to be encouraged together. It was a great night and I loved every moment and every kind face I saw. Love, Michelle
The Arkansas pastor wrote the book back in 2004, and he referred to Rosie O’Donnell as the “poster girl for gay and lesbian adoption.” He then asked in the book if O’Donnell’s battle with depression could be linked to her lifestyle.
The Duggars have not been quiet about their opposition to gay marriage, but it is not clear if they share Dr. Floyd’s beliefs about a secret gay plot to change society. In 2014, fans discovered that Michelle Duggar has a lesbian sister who has been with her partner for thirty years. However, it doesn’t seem that the family matriarch has had any contact with her sister for years.
For Floyd, the term same-sex marriage is an oxymoron, and he wrote “If it’s not marriage in God’s eyes, it is not marriage.”
Not surprisingly, Dr. Floyd also opposes the transgender community and doesn’t believe that sexuality can be genderless.
There is at least one person in the Duggar family that is on board with Floyd’s beliefs on this subject. Jill Duggar’s husband, Derick Dillard, lost his job on Counting On after multiple transphobic tweets, and he later defended his comments by saying that most Americans agree with him.
Happy Birthday Jill! Jill you are an excellent wife and a tender hearted young mother, who always thinks of others. For as long as I can remember, you have had a heart for sharing Jesus's love with people around the world. You genuinely care about helping people who live in some of the poorest & most dangerous conditions in the world. You and Derick are an inspiration to us all. You are a Proverbs 31 woman like your mom!
Can't wait to see you. We pray you have a wonderful Birthday! Love, Daddy
Even though he does not agree with the gay lifestyle, Dr. Floyd does welcome members of the LGBTQ community to his church, because he thinks the Holy Spirit will eventually convict them of their sin and they will change because God’s grace will transform them.
Floyd isn’t the only controversial pastor that the Duggars have connections with. Bill Gothard, the founder of the Institute in Basic Life Principles, was the target of a $500,000 lawsuit where ten former members accused him of sexual abuse and harassment. However, the courts eventually dismissed it.
