As fans of Counting On know, divorce is a dirty word in the Duggar family. It is simply not an option, no matter how rough a marriage gets. But, recently, former 19 Kids & Counting favorite Cousin Amy Duggar revealed that divorce is where her marriage to Dillon King was headed.
Duggar and Dillon are just three months away from their three-year wedding anniversary, and she told Radar Online that there was a time when she wondered if her marriage would last.
“After my mom and dad’s divorce, I was so scared,” Duggar confessed. “Dillon and I would argue. I thought, oh my gosh, we’re going to get divorced.”
Back in 2015, her parents, Deanna and Jerry Jordan, suffered a nasty split. But at the same time, Duggar was starting married life with King, and they immediately hit rough patches. She says they “couldn’t communicate,” and it took time to learn how.
Duggar added that they thought they could do it on their own, but once they realized they didn’t understand each other, and he didn’t know where she was coming from, they decided to get some help.
That help came in the form of last year’s season of Marriage Boot Camp, and Duggar says she is grateful she and her husband joined the cast. The 31-year-old says the show helped the couple focus on their relationship and fix the rough patches. And now, they are better than ever.
Duggar says that 2018 will be a year of “new adventures” with Dillon, and they “are golden.”
But even though things are going strong for Cousin Amy and her husband, they don’t seem to be as good with her famous family. Insiders are claiming that Jim Bob and Michelle (Amy’s aunt and uncle) have forbidden her from speaking about the Counting On stars and have had her delete any mention of them from her social media.
Now, the only Duggar on her Instagram is her grandmother, Mary (Jim Bob’s mother).
Amy recently spoke out against Bill Gothard and the Institute of Basic Life Principles, which is a ministry that Jim Bob and Michelle have supported in the past. They also use some of that church’s teachings in their homeschooling curriculum.
But, Amy wrote that she found Gothard’s teachings “extremely questionable,” and she believes God gave people emotions and personalities and wants them to live their best lives.

The more “liberal” cousin also posted a pic that she didn’t realize was NSFW until she discovered her faucet was “reflective.”
It was a photo of Amy Duggar relaxing in the tub with her knees down, but the reflection in the faucet revealed a bit more than she wanted. She immediately deleted the pic, but it probably was another reason Uncle Jim Bob doesn’t want her around his kids.
New episodes of Counting On premiere in July on TLC.
