Drew Barrymore got candid about her past struggle with drug abuse. While on Netflix’s Norm Macdonald Has a Show, the actress discussed her infamous cocaine use, considering that she checked in to rehab when she was only 14 years old.
There is no doubt that the former child actress was affected by the fame and the extreme pressure she was under, given her young age in the film industry.
When asked if she ever misses the drug, Drew made it very clear that she does not!
‘No. Oh god, I mean, it has been a very long time, but no. Nothing would ever make me have a panic attack and be a bigger nightmare. I never did hallucinogenics … but I do drink and enjoy my life and get out of my own head. It is not like I am this militant person of clarity and presence but [cocaine] literally seems like my worst nightmare now.’
During the interview, she also revealed what substances she was taking at the time and what she wasn’t.
‘I’ve never done heroin, so I do not know what that is like, but I think I liked to feel good, I am an upper person. You know, I am like ‘Woo hoo!’ I also did not want to be like, ‘Man I see sh**.’ Again, I would be like [freaks out]. I’ll not drink my drink at a bar that hasn’t been in my, like, line of vision, or, like, the side cornea.’
At some point, Macdonald complimented Drew by using a drug reference, saying she makes people so happy that they feel like they’re high.
Obviously, the star was very touched by the host’s words.
‘I’d like to, I don’t want to be an a**hole, ever,’ she replied.
