As you may be aware, Drake has confirmed the rumors that he is a father and he did it through some of his tracks on the new album titled Scorpion. So why did the rapper choose to keep his 8-month-old son Adonis a secret for so long?
We hear that Drake felt a lot of fear as far as the shocking turn of events was concerned which is one of the reasons he kept it all under wraps.
‘Drake did not see his child as much as he wanted to because he was scared. He was scared of the reaction of the world, his fans, and his friends, and how it might affect his image that he had a child with a woman he barely knew,’ one source exclusively told HollywoodLife.
The mother of his child is Sophie Brussaux, an artist, and former adult film star.
According to the lyrics of his song March 14, he only met her twice, so the baby was definitely not planned..
That being said, Drake felt like he had to get used to the idea that he was a father and that he was to co-parent with a woman he didn’t know much at all before telling the public.
‘It took Drake time to process becoming a father, and some time to be OK with everything. It helped to write about it, to share the news with his fans and come to terms with it. It all happened really fast and it’s taken him this long to just be OK with becoming a father, and it all still feels surreal for him,’ the source went on.
But ‘Drake is doing the best he can by his son. He was trying to protect him from the world, to keep him secret and private, and in the long run, he thought he was doing what was best. Keeping his son secret was the toughest, most painful decision in his life and one of the hardest things Drake’s ever been through.’
‘After the secret began to leak, he realized that he needed to take action. Now that the secret’s out, Drake feels relief and like a huge weight’s off his back. Now that he’s been able to share the news of his son with the world, Drake feels like he will have more room to spend more time in the open with Adonis.’
The insider also noted that ‘Drake admires how close DJ Khalid is with his son, and he wants that too.’
