After hosting a listening session at the White House with Florida shooting survivors and listening to their heartbreaking pleas to change gun control laws, Donald Trump reached a very baffling conclusion – the solution to ending the blood spill in schools is, wait for it…arming the teachers!
The President used statistics to argue in favor of his idea, saying that, the average armed attack lasts about three minutes while it takes the authorities between 5 and 8 minutes to show up and intervene.
That being said, if the teachers were all trained to use guns and had access to them at all times, they could stop the attack immediately.
‘If you had a teacher who was adept at firearms, they could end the attack really quickly, and the good thing about a suggestion like that — and we are going to be looking at it very strongly…but the good thing is you will have a lot of [armed] people with that.’
So shocking! How can he speak so easily about murder?
Even though it would be in self-defense, teachers usually choose the profession because they want to help kids learn and become reliable members of the society, not be forced to shoot someone!
Police officers need psychological help after taking someone’s life, what makes him think civilians would cope well with killing an armed student like Nikolas Cruz?
The young survivors made it very clear that buying an AR-15 rifle like the one used by the 19-year-old shooter should not be so easy.
And what does our president say? – MORE GUNS!
In addition, he said that having former military people on campuses would help protect the students as well.
But the thing is, there was an armed guard on the Parkland, Florida school campus who still wasn’t able to stop the killing spree.
Mark Barden, a father who lost his young son in the Sandy Hook attack told the president that, ‘School teachers have more than enough responsibilities now than to have to have the responsibility of lethal force to take a life. Nobody wants to see a shootout in a school.’
Considering that the man’s wife is an educator, he knows what he’s talking about!
Florida’s Democratic Senator Bill Nelson also slammed the idea saying: ‘The fact is we cannot make our schools armed camps. I mean, that is not practical, and it is not reflective of our open society.’
