Following Rob Porter’s resignation, president Donald Trump took to his favorite medium of communication – Twitter – and addressed the situation. As you can only imagine, his statement caused nothing but outrage when he pretty much criticized the #MeToo movement.
The ‘leader of the free world’ lashed out at the popular movement against sexual harassment in a rant.
But are we even surprised anymore?
‘People’s lives are being destroyed and shattered by a mere allegation. Some are true, and some are false. Some are old some are new. There’s no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone. Is there no such thing as Due Process any longer?’ Trump tweeted.
This comes after the former Celebrity Apprentice star addressed White House aid Rob Porter‘s departure.
As you may already know, the man resigned after he was accused of domestic abuse towards both of his former wives.
‘We certainly wish him well. It is obviously a very tough time for him. He did a good job while he was in the White House,’ Trump said, before wishing him a ‘wonderful career.’
Trump then stressed that he ‘was very sad’ to hear about the accusation against him.
Finally, Trump made it very clear where he stands in all of this when he encouraged people to believe in his innocence.
‘He says he is innocent, I think you have to remember that. He said strongly yesterday that he is innocent, but you will have to talk to him about that.’
Soon after his post, people slammed Trump’s hypocrisy after he emphasized the importance of due process when he himself called for the execution of the Central Park Five.
They ended up being exonerated from all of the charged due to DNA evidence and due process.
The president has not once admitted he was wrong about the case.
Others slammed him for also being accused of sexual harassment by no less than 19 women.
It has to be noted that only 2% to 8% of such accusations are proven to be false so…
‘Donald Trump is rape culture if rape culture were sentient. He is the walking talking embodiment of it,’ one comment read.
‘Donald Trump’s very active in the #OnlyMe movement.’
‘Donald Trump – Misogynist-in-Chief – defends the accused, not the accuser. According to Trump, all women accusers are lying. The pattern’s there – Trump defended Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes, and Roy Moore – saying things like, ‘They denied it, you have to listen to that,’ another user said.
