Dolly Parton is not usually a star that gets too politically vocal on her platforms but given the current situation in America, she felt like showing her full support to the Black Lives Matter movement publicly. Check out her inspirational message about it!
During a new interview for Billboard, Dolly Parton made her stance very clear when it comes to the BLM protests and racial equality.
The country singer and actress shared with the magazine that ‘I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen. And of course Black lives matter. Do we think that our little white a**es are the only ones that matter? No!’
Many praised Parton for her strong statement, especially since, usually, she stays out of political matters since she has never wanted to offend any of her fans no matter what they might believe.
Naturally, this is much more important for her since she left behind that kind of thinking in favor of using her voice for the actual good of everyone.
Dolly Parton was not part of any protests that happened all over the United States in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing by a police officer back in May.
However, it’s safe to say that her words now are still very important and inspiring.
Dolly went on to even criticize any religious people out there who may be against the movement.
‘All these Christian people who are supposed to be such great Christian people, the last thing we are supposed to do is to judge each other. God’s the judge. I just try to be myself, try to let everyone else be themselves. As the scripture also says, ‘To whom much is given, much is required.’ So I just look at my life with that every single day and think God expects it of me. I expect it of myself, and think people expect it of me. If I can be an inspiration, I want to be that.’
