Disgraced Matt Lauer Reportedly Dating Again After Agreeing To Pay Annette Roque $20 Million To End Their Marriage
After NBC abruptly fired him last November because of sexual harassment allegations, former Today host Matt Lauer found himself in the middle of a divorce with his wife of twenty years, Annette Roque. But now, it looks like Lauer is attempting to move on and find love again, even though his divorce is not yet final.
Closer Weekly is reporting that Lauer has been hiding out in his Hamptons home since getting fired, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t having some fun.
"Matt left Sag Harbor on his boat with a woman," claims an eyewitness. "It was just the two of them, and he said they were headed to Newport [R.I.]. He was in a great mood, and it definitely seemed like a date."
Other reports claim that Lauer’s friends believe he was with the same woman that was spotted on his yacht back in 2014. An insider says that Lauer’s relationship with the mystery woman is “going strong,” but he is doing everything he can to keep her a secret. Since he is working hard to keep a good relationship with his three children, he is worried about what they might think.
According to Page Six , Lauer has agreed to pay Roque $20 million in their divorce because of his guilt about cheating on her with multiple women, and he wants to make sure that she is taken care of. Insiders say that he is “bending over backward” to make sure Roque gets everything she wants, but he would love to keep their home in the Hamptons.
The source added that things have gone relatively smoothly so far in the divorce, and things have settled down. Both Lauer and Roque are spending time with their kids, and the former couple is getting along. And, they “hope to settle the divorce very soon.”
This could be the reason why Lauer wants to keep his new romance a secret because the last he needs at the moment is to upset his ex by flaunting a “sexy, younger replacement,” says an insider.
In addition to the $20 million that Lauer will be paying Roque, the couple has also agreed to share custody of their kids — Jack, 17, Romy, 14, and Thijs, 11.
Insiders also say that there is a “noticeable difference” in Matt Lauer and Annette Roque’s attitude in the divorce process, and they seem to be happier. Family and friends are reportedly “thrilled” that the former couple is moving forward.
