Derek Hough Opens Up About Sister Julianne Leaving Dancing With The Stars: 'She Has Her Sights Set On Other Things'
No matter what career decisions Julianne Hough takes, her brother Derek supports her. The 32-year-old dancer was at the Entertainment Weekly Pre-Emmy party on Friday, where he talked about his sister’s decision to give up judging this season 25 of Dancing with the Stars.
‘We were supposed to go back on tour, she is just newly married, she’s a very focused woman. She has her sights set on other opportunities and other things. Sometimes you just got to step away from something for a little bit to create those opportunities,’ Derek said about the reason why Julianne decided to step away from the beloved dance competition.
While season 25 will have to take place without Julianne, we know that Mark Ballas is back after two seasons of absence.
Derek stated that every judge on the show has their own flavor and that everybody has missed Ballas’ unique dynamic.
Still, he insisted that he is not biased, so he is ‘rooting for everyone.’
The man also revealed that being nominated for an Emmy for his participation on Dancing with the Stars felt a bit bittersweet because it was his last performance on the show.
When asked about whether or not he’ll one day return, Derek admitted that it was not out of the question.
